Job Type
Part-time, 20-30 hours per week

Description

Wilderness Exchange Unlimited was started 25 years ago as a consignment shop, and we’re taking it back to its roots.  By providing Denver’s outdoor enthusiasts with a curated selection of used and consignment gear, we’ve been breaking down the barriers of entry to the outdoors for a quarter of a century.  We’re a company that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but is serious about providing a great customer experience.  We find value in repurposing gear and making sure each piece of gear is used to its full life cycle.  With a focus on climbing, mountaineering, and backcountry skiing, customer’s know they can find an affordable solution to their outdoor needs.  Combining our passion for outdoor sport and used gear has made Wilderness Exchange an essential part of Denver’s outdoor culture.  

Responsibilities:
Authorized and responsible for continuously improving upon and performing all duties according to WEU Quality, Safety and Employee Policies and procedures:

1. Assist customers with the appropriate information, advice, and service.
2. Accurate entry of merchandise, payments, and customer details in the Point of
Sale (POS) system.
3. Resolve issues involving customer relations and satisfaction.
4. Stock and merchandise inventory on the sales floor.
5. Maintain the store's clean, organized appearance.
6. Restocking and managing back stock including lifting boxes of gear.
7. Intake and processing of consigment items from customers.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Note: This employee may be requested to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience:
Required: Previous experience in retail sales or customer service role
Preferred: 6 months to 1 year retail sales in an outdoor specialty store
Skills and general experience:
• A current or previous retail employee with 6 or more months of experience.
• Excited about retail and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holiday, evening, and weekend shifts.
• Excellent public relation skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers
• Basic to Intermediate knowledge of computer systems, typing skills, merchandising
experience, understanding of sales techniques, outdoor gear product knowledge.

     We are looking to hire a passionate Sales Associates for our NEW Partner Store in Denver, CO with an expected start of late December, 2024. This is a new partner store run by Wilderness Exchange Unlimited with an expected opening date of January 2025.

     The retail Associate’s primary responsibility is maintaining a highly positive customer experience by providing exceptional customer service. This includes in-depth practical and product knowledge of climbing, skiing and mountaineering; the ability to transfer that knowledge, and a willingness to assist customers of all levels with their needs. Must be able to communicate well
in a friendly, welcoming fashion. Other duties include being responsible for general store maintenance to keep the sales floor appearance at its best. Accurate and efficient use of the POS system is mandatory

7. Receiving merchandise in the store
8. Assist with Demo program, performing basic adjustments for customers if needed
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience:
Required: Previous experience in retail sales or customer service role
