Black Diamond's flagship UIAA-certified avalanche shovel purpose-built for professional use, the Evac 9 boasts a handle that toggles between standard shovel and hoe mode for digging test pits or when you need to move serious tonnage in a hurry.

The large blade moves the white stuff quickly, while the flat-bottom profile leaves a clean face on pit walls. An extendable shaft eliminates the possibility of jamming in the field, while the modified D handle serves up increased comfort for long days of pit digging. Obviously, it'll speed up rescue time when the unthinkable occurs.
